most common large mushroom in lawns right now, at least in a tri-county area around Bartholomew county. totally non-mycorrhizal; in middle of large lawns.

May be thiersii. The smell is exactly the same as the other two. Not found near.

And, after closer examination the scaley tufts on the cap are soft, similar to what I am used to seeing on thiersii.

No, found on the other side of my small town Dr. T. None in my yard so far this year.
