on Taxodium distichum twig

very thin shiny whitish thallus, K+y to blood red very slow (no crystals), cortex very thin to indiscernable at 400x, medulla with some large POL+ K- crystals among the algae, apothecia discoid black scattered or in small compressed clusters, rim black even prominent, epihymenium dark brown with faint greenish hint especially in very thin sections POL- K+ fleeting lavender persisting somewhat purplish for a while but eventually fading entirely back to dark brown, exciple very dark carbonized thin or with hyaline hymenium-like hyphae inside, hymenium hyaline densely inspersed with tiny oil drops, subhymenium hyaline to slightly yellowish-brownish as it grades into hypothecium, hypothecium dark brown POL- thick, paraphyses with thickened brown-capped end cells separating easily in K at least, spores 12-16 per ascus brown smooth slightly bent ellipsoid-fusiform ~(11-)12-14(-17)x(5-)6(-7)um walls all somewhat thickened during development making narrowly triangular lumina with slightly thickened septum but indistinct in maturity
