Observation 1830: Russula dissimulans Shaffer
When: 2006-12-31
Collection location: Salt Point State Park, Sonoma Co., California, USA [Click for map]
No specimen available
Notes:
As suggested by Dimitar Bojantchev, the name was changed from Russula nigricans to R. dissimulans based on microscopic view of spores. Gills are brittle, subdistant and thick, especially the top of the gill where it attaches to the cap. Taste mild.
