nails it. I wonder if this could be the first large-scale MO user project.
Focus on little yellow asco-circles, scope them, sequence some. Determine range limits (if there are any).
We may not make any headway, but it’d be fund.

I din’t know B.citrina was one of the controversial species needing further analysis.

So what’s one to do if microscopy is not a good method? What are the other similar species? What’s Beug book called?

spent several hours scoping some Heliotales that any field guide ever would have called B. citrina, and let me tell you folks, microscopy isn’t particularly helpful in delimitation here. Did that really expensive Beug book not clear up any confusion in NA collections resembling B. citrina?

The ‘Doubt’

on B. citrina is less that this is doubtfully that species and more that it is doubtfully what this observation should be titled as given the information available. Therein lie the two main methods of voting on the site, which sometimes run contrary to one another.

Bisporella is not the only option for little tiny yellow cups, few people take them the full distance on MO so its kind of hard to say what you have…

What say you, myxomop?

You proposed so many names, but obviously in doubt about B.citrina?
