Found under live oak. Mild taste, yellow spores.
These I used to call these R. bassifurcata, but that really isn’t true, and there are a few species in California that fairly match that description. From Mike Davis’ work these are a separate species, and he is calling these Russula sp. no. 1. Someday they might get a name…
