Observation 18633: Rickenella Raithelh.

When: 2009-02-19

Collection location: Reserva Nacional Magellanes, Magellanes, Chile [Click for map]

Who: Jason Hollinger (jason)

No specimen available

Notes:
Large numbers scattered loosely on moss-covered logs. Saw these in quite a few places. Aren’t moss-dwelling little jobs like this Rickenella? (They are no more than 5 mm wide at most, with decurrent, distant gills.)

I check another one yesterday, and even at 20x they are clearly visible in silhouette in bright sunlight — cool! Thanks, Doug.

Looks like it me…

Looks right to me, they should have cystidia on the cap surface, which I think you can almost see in the photos.
