Observation 18797: Russula fuegiana Singer

When: 2009-02-23

Collection location: southern Tierra del Fuego, Tierra del Fuego, Argentina [Click for map]

Who: Jason Hollinger (jason)

Specimen available

By itself in leaves; CAP 4" wide, viscid at some point, glabrous; GILL shallow cross-veins, adnate; STIPE slightly bulbous at base, mycelial fuzz white; SPORE could be white or cream; OTHER no odor, no latex, flesh doesn’t bruise, VERY ACRID!

I thought this might be the same as observation 18532, but that one was not acrid at all.
