Notes:
Found on soil under tree ferns in native New Zealand forest.
Pileus: 20-30mm in diameter. Convex to concave in maturity. Radially fibrillose. Colour light brown/tan.
Stipe: 30-40mm long by 5-8mm in diameter. Slightly enlarged at the base. Colour light tan.
Lamellae: Attachment adnate. Close to subdistant. Broad. Colour pale tan.
Spore deposit on white paper is light brown.

It’s very unlikely that this could be I. praecox, there have been no collections or records of that species occurring in New Zealand and as far as I know it is only known from the Pacific Northwest of the United States.

Unfortunately we’ll never know as I don’t have a voucher for this collection, I may collect this again but there are many species here with similar macroscopic characteristics so I couldn’t say for sure that it was the same species.
