I found these growing after a period of rain near wood pile (oak logs) in the backyard. The mulch they were growing in was either eastern or white pine bark. It was a sandy-loam soil with about a 0-1 cm O-Horizon, a 1-2 cm A horizon, and a 25-35 cm B horizon.

The mulching bark was either eastern or white pine. Mycelial strands could be seen on the outer layers of the mulch when the fruit bodies were removed.
That is a 3″×5″ index card (7.6 cm x 12.7 cm) for reference and comparison.
