Found on conifer woodland.
Cap small, tough, cream brownish purple with some shades of olive, margin purple. Gills adnate, yellowish cream, forked near stem base. Stem whitish, mealy texture, bruising quickly purple on handling (then pinkish brown), tapering on base. Taste very hot. Odor indistinct. Spore print cream.

The “bruising”

is actually red colour on the stem that is hidden behind a pruina, which is easily removed when touched. A distinct yellow tint on the gills points towards sardonia. Unusual cap colour, but it’s variable.
