obs 68128 shows one of these same cup fungi. I believe the two of us had walked the lower Falls Trail that day.

This is as close to identifying this species as I can get. I believe we found these on a club foray. Also, Beug. Bess. Bess. report that there are at least two different species in North America. It could be one of these. I’ll let my proposal stand until more input is given to either support or reject it.

Mushroom Expert specifically mentions that asci for D. venosa do not turn blue in Meltzer’s. But the note indicates that these asci did turn blue. If you like, I’ll send you a micro photo which shows the blue-tipped asci (best seen in closeup).
