Observation 197938: Lecidea promiscens Nyl.

on quartzite; rocky broad northwestern ridge of summit, geology a mixture of siliceous metamorphic rocks; on broad ridge about 0.4 miles northwest of west peak (about 75m west of main peak)

thallus lacking to thin scurfy white along cracks, apothecia black contorted with thick raised margin in one half to convex with receding thin margin in other half epruinose, exciple aeruginose-black, hypothecium brownish immediately below hymenium to white below that, medulla I+ patchily strongly violet (Lugol’s), spores 8 per ascus oblong ~9-12×3.5-4.5um
