This is a wood midge (Cecidomyiidae) larva infested with pathogenic fungi. The hyphae are seen through the transparent integumen of the larva. The larva was found in a pitfall trap on the foreste floor of a fir (Abies balsamea) stand. I’ve noticed this fungi on several larvae of this morphospecies. The larvae is 2.3 mm long and the close-up picture was taken at 400×.
