You can see the velvet hairs also on the head, precisely at the center of the photo, where there is an inflection to the interior, so that the setae are visible in perspective.

I see what you mean. I looked at the photo blown up to maximum size of Flickr and could see the seate on the stipe.


I didn’t realize how minute these setae are and was expecting the mushroom to have an overall more “velvety” look. Thank you for taking the time to look over my observations.

This time the photo is clear about the existence of hairs on both stem and head.
