Collection location: Villa O’Higgins, Aisén, Chile [Click for map]
On shady, mossy, rocky trail bank, in validivian forest near Villa O’Higgins (a fair way inland) at around 1000 m elevation.
I thought this was the same as 20081207.39 (P. norvegica) however, it has phyllidiate margins instead of sorediate, and the photobiont appears clearly to be green algae not cyanobacteria. It is distinguished further by its very loose, ascending, somewhat ragged, deeply wrinkled surface and both white medulla and white pseudocyhpellae below.
