Observation 20427: Pseudocyphellaria faveolata (Delise) Malme

When: 2009-01-08

Collection location: Parque Nacional Queulat, Aisén, Chile [Click for map]

Who: Jason Hollinger (jason)

No specimen available

Found this on mossy log beside stream in the “enchanted forest”, a deep forest covered copiously with moss at foot of glacier.

I’m assuming the photobiont is green algal based on the rich olive-green color in the photo. Its medulla and pseudocyphellae are both white. This species is generally more “faveolate” or wrinkled/dimpled, apparently. Thanks to Tim Wheeler for IDing this for me.
