Will digging species be worth it?

I will try to get a special permit to collect some of the species and take pictures of everything. Perhaps taking pictures with a ruler next to each species might work.

We are concerned because so many species of so many things are endangered in this forest that we do not wish to harm the ecosystem in any way. Since we can’t afford to get an expert here we have limited options for research studies at Ficus Trails.

I will be waiting for any advice from any of you and I am very thankful for every comment and advice already given to us. It is deeply appreciate it.

Species IDs

will be very hard to come by for lots of your fungi. Confirmation is often dependent on microscopy, or at the very least, comprehensive notes and photography. It is important to not rely on print or internet resources focusing on temperate (ie North American or European) fungi for guidance, as the neo- and paleotropical mycota are distinct, even from each other. Thankfully, there are some good resources on Costa Rica, as the country has been relatively well studied mycologically (at least compared to its neighbors).

I think I now have all the pictures of one species only. I just need to id the species.

May be the same species

The first picture was taken on a different day so all the new pictures may be from a different species but to me, they look very similar. I still don’t know for sure the species name so I am guessing so far.
