she said it was not H. crassitunicata. When I get back to New Mexico I’ll send her some.

When describing this species from Washington State, N.S. Weber indicated only “under conifers”.

Next time my microscope and I find ourselves in the same place I will take a look. Many strange things are to be found in the pinyon-juniper woodlands.

Dear Bob,
The cupulate apothecia, with a brown hymenium, reminds me H. crassitunicata. This species is characterized by its large ascospores, asci without crozier and thickened-wall paraphyses.
