Sorry for my delayed reply. The pileus was about 2" wide. The stipe was around 5". I hope that’s helpful.

What steps can I take to improve my Amanita IDs in the future? (Other than scoping spores, because I don’t have the equipment.)

I need some clues about the size of the fruiting body. There are a lot of names for white species of section Phalloideae that are described from Florida. Many were described by W. A. Murrill. These original descriptions are very brief. The type collections yield spore data, but I have been unable to revive the tissues of important parts such as the gills. Hence, I have not been able to evaluate the microscopic anatomy of the Murrill species. There are a lot of mysteries.

Very best,
