Notes:
Growing from under a rock near beech and ash saplings. Oak, red maple, paper birch and hemlock nearby. Bruising blue. Flesh unusually thick and tough for a bolete. Cap scaled. Some fruiting bodies mostly underground. Possible sclerotia nearby.
