Observation 2116: Gliophorus psittacinus (Schaeff.) Herink

When: 2007-01-14

Collection location: CYO McGucken Camp, Occidental, Sonoma Co., California, USA [Click for map]

Who: Nathan Wilson (nathan)

No specimen available

Notes:
Found under tanoak and fir in a mixed forest that also includes redwood and madrone. I first saw just the large cap and then looked around for young ones. I had almost given up when I discovered this little clump under some tanoak leaves. In my experience this pale olive green is more common in coastal California than the intense green most often shown in photographs.
