Observation 21415: Stereum complicatum (Fr.) Fr.

When: 2009-05-29

Collection location: Forest near Elgin St., Pembroke, Ontario, Canada [Click for map]

Who: Paul Derbyshire (Twizzler)

No specimen available

Stereum complicatum on a chunk of wood in Zone 11.

Nearby at base of dying Quaking Aspen was an unidentified polypore ( http://www.mushroomobserver.org/21414 ). I thought it might be the same fungus at first until I got looks at their undersides: orange and nearly smooth on this one, grey pores on that one.
