Observation 21513: Fomitopsis rosea (Alb. & Schwein.) P. Karst.

When: 2009-06-01

Collection location: Forest near Elgin St., Pembroke, Ontario, Canada [Click for map]

Who: Paul Derbyshire (Twizzler)

No specimen available

Notes:
Unidentified drab polypore on pine log in Zone 05 (Pinus strobus with some Betula alleghaniensis). Brackets up to perhaps 5cm across. Underside turned out to be pink! Quite small pores.

Edit, June 11: added a closeup of the pores. The photo is a bit motion-jarred for some reason but still shows good detail. Water drops were clinging to the pores that were absent June 1.
