Found Growing in a clump and one solitary one on a moss covered log. The logs was in a sunny location not buried in the deep dark woods. The flesh exuded a reddish almost blood colored juice when squished and from the broken stems . This Juice readily stains the skin purplish. David Arora lists it as edible but the taste is very bitter. You would need a lot of them.
