It would be interesting to see what it looked like after expansion of the cap. I’m sure I’ve seen this gooey-capped Amanita several times (I remember one collection at least near Weems, Virginia years ago.). I’ve never been sure what it was. It could be an immature specimen of A. multisquamosa that hasn’t developed the long-striate cap margin or the pigmented center of the cap. It could be something else.
