Observation 226582: Entoloma Fr. ex P. Kumm.

When: 2015-12-29

Collection location: Leer Park, Gregg Co, Texas, USA [Click for map]

Who: L G Price (LG_Price)

Specimen available

Notes:
IN PROGRESS

SPORE PRINT: dark pink-brown

Habitat: small Entoloma growing in moss like ground cover in grassey area. Oddly, under a tree that drops “Giant” acorns. Must be horticultural. I added photos of the acorns and the tree. The base of the largest acorn is about 4 inches across.

It turns out that this Oak Tree is native to Texas, it’s Quercus macrocarpa. As the article linked below states, it can have acorns the size of lemons.
