Habitat: Under mature Short-needled Pine

Smell: Woodsy-spicey, mild.
Taste: used tip of tongue to taste cut edge with milk, immediate almost no taste. After several minutes an acrid taste developed, not strong but persistent, lingering even after washing out my mouth and gargling, made my throat sore.

Milk: developed immediately to slightest touch, immediately yellow as shown in photos. No more color changes. When flesh was broken, the same yellow color developed around margens of flesh ( shown in some photos).

Spore Print: off-white – need to check in better light

Spore Microscopy: TBD

Cap: Maximum size: 3 inches across. see photos. Moderately brittle, not quite so much as Russula.

Stipe: rooted.
