Observation 22733: Melanoleuca melaleuca (Pers.) Murrill

When: 2009-06-24

Collection location: Shasta-Trinity National Forest, Siskiyou Co., California, USA [Click for map]

Who: Ron Pastorino (Ronpast)

No specimen available

These were growing in conifer debris but the caps were rather small, from about 3.0-4.3 cm across and the stems were not very dark. That sort of eliminated M. angelisiana/M. graminicola. They degraded before I could check the cystidia. The spores were warted and amyloid and appeared to be in the right size range.
