Notes:
This mushroom was found by a friend in the tropical rainforest near Puerto Maldonado Peru. The site is approximately a 2 hour boat ride up the Madre de Dios River. Pictures were taken in the field with her phone, no samples were collected.

…come to think of it, there is some resemblance here:

Observation 54710

Never did ID this one, nor was it recollected during last year’s trip. The more I look at each observation, the more they appear to be the same. They’re from almost the same day of the year, and Puerto Maldonado is very close to Madidi. What I wouldn’t give for microscopy!

Wow! I have only seen cap patterning like this on Marasmius amazonicus but this is no Marasmius. I would show this to D. Jean Lodge or any of the other people who helped Susanne Sourell (x{NAME suse }{ User suse }x) with her IDs. It could be distinctive enough to be IDed on cap surface alone, but more photographs would be helpful. Do you have any more, particularly of the gills?
