Habitat: oak woodland
Substrate: duff
Cap: 9 cm w x .75 cm thick; hemispherical to convex; chestnut brown; hygraphonous; margin lighter; glabrous; moist, but not viscid; pleasant smelling, faintly minty, caramel
Gills: adnexed or notched; concolorous with cap
Stipe: 12 cm h x .75 cm wide; fibrillose; even; pale cinnamon colored, lighter at the bottom; bottom 1/2 seems to be evenly covered with mycelium, or perhaps they are the universal veil remnants that are mentioned on as “Fitting like a tight sock”; pleasant smelling, just like cap-first note was peppermint, then sweet and reminded me of caramel.
Spores: pale rust, like cinnamon; concolorous with cap & gills

In situ, about a foot from the trunk of a Q. agrofolia
