thallus thick verruculose-areolate olive-gray, K- C- (in section) KC- P- UV-, apothecia abundant black flat tiny flexuose with raised thick black rim becoming flush, epihymenium dark olive-brown K-, exciple aeruginose outside of radiating gelatinized cells, hymenium hyaline to brownish K~ reddish where pigmented ~35-40um deep, hypothecium dark rich red-brown K- to reddish/violetish, paraphyses branched and anastomosing? some with pigmented tips, asci tiny K/I+ blue or not from Catillaria-type to Lecidea-type to only weakly K/I+, spores 8 per ascus ellipsoid simple hyaline smooth ~5×2.5um
