This large firm Russula smelled and tasted mild. It smelled almost good enough to eat, if one were inclined to eat a Russula. Under mixed hardwoods; lots of maple, poplar, and beech.

In Europe we have a form of Russula heterophylla

in warmer regions that show these orange or coppery stains on the cap too altho I am convinced this is not R. heterophylla
