Observation 23364: Leccinum Gray
When: 2009-07-20
Collection location: Forest near Elgin St., Pembroke, Ontario, Canada [Click for map]
Who: Paul Derbyshire (Twizzler)
No specimen available
Notes:
These were large, dotting one side of the main path through Zone 15, growing under quaking aspen and jack pine. The one I uprooted had a hollow stem infested with maggots. Pale yellowish/cream colored angular pores, brown cap with reddish tones here and there, white stipe, black scabers — other than the size, your standard-issue Leccinum.
