Another name for this is Amanita aspera and it seems to be confined to Europe.

Are there two different species for A. franchetii here? What is to be done in cases like this?

(I wonder how does the naming rules handle these cases, because there is a problem with Galerina hypnorum, there is a species descriptions published in Europe, which does not agree with the species description published for North America, but they are both published with the same name.)
