On moss and soil in crevice of large intruded saliceous rock outcrop, in a semi-arid annual grassland habitat along an ephemeral drainage.

Thallus is a cushion of small, nearly black ascending lobes with shiny lacerate tips. Glabrous. Apothecia laminal, dark, with raised margins. Isidia lacking. Underside of thallus greenish, glabrous near tips, didn’t see any patches of hairs but didn’t break specimen apart to see center of thallus.

Scytinium is a new (2014) genus in Collemataceae that scooped up some of the Leptogium species.
