Observation 236288: Strobilurus Singer

When: 2016-03-18

Collection location: Irondequoit, New York, USA [Click for map]

Who: Garrett Taylor (cappy)

No specimen available

Growing on a Norway Spruce cone underneath some debris. I took it home and grew it in my apartment for a week in a sandwich clamshell. The most mature cap which I harvested to do a spore print was flattened and somewhat wavy. Spores were somewhat variable, but in the range for the Strobilurus species I found online, I though they were too big for Baeospora myosura, also the gills seem to widely spaced.
