Observation 23668: Lactarius indigo (Schwein.) Fr.
When: 2009-07-16
Collection location: Norwich, Vermont, USA [Click for map]
Who: John Carl Jacobs (JCJacobs)
No specimen available
Notes:
Unfortunately, this Indigo Milky, (Lactarius indigo) seems to have already faded some in color. It was still a nice surprise to find a blue mushroom. From the color and general shape alone, I am very confident in this identification. This mushroom was growing alone under a small Eastern White Pine tree on the banks of the Connecticut river.
