Observation 23712: Leucocoprinus birnbaumii (Corda) Singer

When: 2009-07-28

Collection location: Gainesville, Florida, USA [Click for map]

Who: Kyle (kydelic)

No specimen available

Mushrooms similar to these were found growing in a number of indoor plant pots at this location, however these specimens were found outdoors on naturally watered plant pots on a covered porch. The tops left yellow powder on my fingers and the caps appeared to be closed (perhaps they were all young). Because of the location and circumstances in which these were found (on moving day) neither a spore print nor measurements could be taken.

…years ago, in a plant pot containing an indoor house plant.

I must say, they don’t look very “leuco” to me. More like “xantho”. :)
