Chou et al. described this anamorphic Xylaria from Taiwan, and it is widely distributed in Vietnam too. Isaria arborea Pat. is probably an earlier name for this fungus.

my guess is this is the asexual state of either a xylariaceous fungus or an entomopathogen.
