This is telling me that it’s early for the “blondes” at least in some locations in Morris Co. I have a spot there, too, that used to be very productive, but it fizzled out several years ago due to some environmental factors, thought weather might have played a role, too. I haven’t been there in at least two years, so it might be worthwhile to visit this old haunt next week. Back it 2008 or 2009 I was finding lots of morels there in mid-May. The “blondes” in my area have just finished fruiting.
Same fruiting as obs 237246, only over two weeks later. One of these was left in-situ on 4/19.
Not a single yellow morel on this date (5/3/16), and I checked lots of likely spots. Trees leafed out, and plenty of moisture present. Soil temp must have dropped below critical level.
