Observation 23876: Laccaria amethystina Cooke

When: 2009-08-02

Collection location: Luzerne Co., Pennsylvania, USA [Click for map]

Who: Dave in NE PA

No specimen available

Okay okay… the “in situ” is posed. Couldn’t resist putting the deep purple into the lively green setting. Actually, the naked eye color is much purpler (less blue) than what comes through here. This may be a bit small for L. amethystea (this was the big one… less than 1 inch diameter). No time for spores… leaving early tomorrow for a 2 week vacation. Enjoy!

Well the stature looks good for Laccaria amethystina but the color is very, very blue on my monitor.
