There seems to be lots of similarly colored Pluteus around here right now.

Spore lengths in some cases approaching 8 mu. (Add 17% to measurements seen in photo.)

Cystidia mainly two-horned. MushroomExpert says that P. petasatus features many singly-pointed cystidia (which they call “intermediate cystidia”). I found none of this type cystidia here, although a few seemed to lack horns/points.
