Observation 239382: Armillaria (Fr.) Staude

When: 2016-05-22

Collection location: Weldon Springs, Missouri, USA [Click for map]

Who: weed lady (Sylvia )

No specimen available

Have no idea what this is. Found on a hardwood, downed log. The black “branching” seems to be coming from the larger black areas. Thought I left this observation as “blank”. But it appears that the title comes back as “Fungi”. I have no idea if this is “Fungi” or not. Whatever it is it sure caught my eye as being interesting.

for you help on this identification. Sometimes you get surprised. I was thinking along the lines of this being plant material – maybe roots. Being associated with fungi makes it lots more interesting to me.

Sylvia, I believe these are the rhizomorphs of A. mellea
