on a decaying hardwood log. Given the length, straightness and branchlessness of that log, probably tulip poplar. Triangular tags of partial veil evident on the margin of younger specimens. Little or no veil remnants on stipes. Spore print brown. Taste slowly bitter. The limited info I found on Pholiota tuberculosa fails to mention any cap color reaction to KOH, but these guys turned red.
