Hi Alan, I see the pretty close match to the UNITE

curated reference sequence for R. postiana,, 629/636, UDB000897, Sweden. And the not so good match with the curated R. risigallina, 759/778, UDB015998. But it strikes me that this collection looks more like what has been called R. lutea in NA and is likely the same as those provisionally called R. lutea from BC like HQ604848, 776/778 match. This collection seems to lack the green tones of R. postiana aka R. lutea var. postiana. Since all of these are European names it seems that what we have in NA is not the same and possibly undescribed.

Danny Miller did some research on this and he said that unite has reference sequences for the other names and they were about the same. We went with the older name.

Alan, how did you choose R. postiana

This aphorism is about as silly as the known Archimedean statement: “Give me a place to stand and with a lever I will move the whole world.”

“wisdom” in the very generous sense

It’s one of the least useful bits of inherited aphorism that still gets bandied about…
