With regard to Dave’s comment, do you recall seeing a ring on your mushroom? A. parcivolvata is not supposed to have one.

This species’ distribution range includes my home state, but I’ve never found it here so far. I will keep looking. :-)

The cap margin…

appears to completely lack striations. Also, the basal bulb is marginate. I wonder if this could be an example of Amanita erythrocephala?
