Observation 24270: Pluteus atromarginatus (Singer) Kühner

When: 2009-08-12

Collection location: Forest near Elgin St., Pembroke, Ontario, Canada [Click for map]

Who: Paul Derbyshire (Twizzler)

No specimen available

Free pale gills, very dark brown cap, growing from the root-ball of a fallen tree. There are dark markings on the stipe and a few of the characters that would suggest Amanita as well as a few that would suggest Pluteus. It’s hard to be sure if it was growing from the soil or the wood.
