Observation 2444: Hygrocybe fornicata (Fr.) Singer (Site ID) (Cuphophyllus fornicatus)
When: 2007-02-14
Collection location: Howarth Park, Santa Rosa, Sonoma Co., California, USA [Click for map]
Who: Debbie Drechsler (debdrex)
No specimen available
Notes:
I think these are hygrocybes but can’t find any reference to anything that looks like them. The larger one is 3.5 cm across and 6 cm tall. The pilei were shiny and slightly sticky. Might’ve been slimy at one point? Gills were pale tan and stipe moist and also slightly sticky, though less so than the caps. I didn’t notice the red stain on the stipe until I was looking at the photos.
