A young specimen showing the typical colors, but without the browning that eventually takes over the entire mushroom in age, and giving an impression of L. pseudosensibilis; however, that taxon doesn’t grow in the Pine Barrens. Note the uniform marble staining pattern of the cut context and brown tones in the stipe base context. Browning of the context elsewhere begins to show in 20-30 sec post sectioning. The faint reticulation at the apex is rather unusual.
