Observation 25028: Amanita augusta Bojantchev & R.M. Davis

When: 2009-09-08

Collection location: Leadbetter Point State Park, Pacific Co., Washington, USA [Click for map]

Who: Sam Linse (BearwoodSam)

No specimen available

Notes:
Found on sandy seaside forest floor among shore pine. I did not disturb this fungus as it was the only one and it was a state park where fungus gathering is illegal. But it was cespitose, the other caps are pushing up closely too it and seem to be merged with the primary cap. A nearby banana slug enjoyed it apparently as evidenced by the interior view. Quite striking as I walked along the trail.
